We believe that Capoeira is experienced rather than taught, and so we ensure that everyone enjoys a high level of social interaction at each and every session - as well as the physical workout - of course :) Axé!
What to expect...
Our classes of Capoeira are community-centric and revolve around music, movement and the ritual of Capoeira. Our sessions start and end with music which we create with the traditional Capoeira instruments. Although not a pre-requisite, agility and flexibility are an important part of Capoeira which we aim to develop as a preamble the movement :) And finally, more than just mechanical movement, we work on discovering how the practice of Capoeira holistically can promote physical, mental and social well-being!!
Capoeira Philosophy
Capoeira grew out of ritual practices that served several social functions - sometimes taking the form of "reconciliation through conflict." Capoeira has been described as "an event that possesses corporeal knowledge" and the art form has a very strong philosophical element that is inseparable from the physical practice.
